Solo Blues Classes

Solo Groovin’

Dive into the expressive art of solo Blues dancing with Trisha! This track is perfect for dancers with basic Blues experience or those from other dance styles eager to explore Blues.

Discover key elements of Blues movement, improvisation, and musicality, along with historic solo steps that define the genre. These classes focus on helping you develop your unique style and deepen your connection to the music.

Not just for solo enthusiasts! Adding solo Blues skills can elevate your partner dancing, boosting connection, rhythm, and creativity. Book this track on its own or as a complement to your Couple track.

(Note: Some dance experience required; not for absolute beginners.)

The Solo Groovin’  Track includes the following classes :

  • “Motherland Rhythms” –  This will be an explosion of total-body movement. African dance allows you to be free in your movement and connect yourself closely with rhythms. We will focus on the traditions of the West African region. These movements are reflective of self-expression and improvisation which is a celebration of life and its experiences. Come prepared to be introduced to the concepts of polyrhythms, isolations, call-and-response, individualism, and dance with an inner performative function. You will leave understanding the ‘seeds’ from which the many dance forms of the swing dance umbrella, including Lindy Hop, Shag and Balboa have grown.
  • “Shake n Groove” – Blues dancing is all about expression and connection to the music, and this class dives deep into the soulful and contemporary rhythms of Blues from the 1960s onwards. Through solo movement, you’ll explore patterns inspired by this era’s rich musical repertoire, focusing on style, rhythm, and technique.
  • “Playful Dancer” – Understanding how to tune your body movements to the melody. A facilitated step-by-step and guaranteed process for dancers who wish to engage in creating movement that feels comfortable within the body. The class will focus on the ability to move freely without having to learn any choreography or steps. So, the stress of thinking that you must execute jazz steps in the ‘right’ way is relieved.  You will explore movement patterns that are uniquely yours to express.  There are no rules or judgements.  So, as a dancer, you will be more engaged and connected to the music, which will increase enjoyment in the dance for both you and your partner.
  • “Lovers´Rock” –  the sound of a Black British Blues experience. Come celebrate an expressive art form created by a vibrant and energetic Jamaican immigrant culture when disengaged from its hostile environment. You will be introduced to the sensual sounds of romantic ballads. Here you will explore how to move your body to a soundtrack of hopes and dreams. Be prepared to feel liberated, connect with a spiritual nakedness and permit yourself to break free from any inhibitions!

Performance Class / “Show time” – Choreo Class Part 1&2 (2 classes, total of 2.5 hrs):
Step into the spotlight with our Performance Class, where dancers will learn a dynamic Blues choreography designed to bring out both technique and stage presence. Throughout this class, you’ll refine your movements, build confidence, and work as a team to bring a unique piece to life. The highlight? You’ll have the chance to showcase your hard work and passion in a live performance at the Saturday night party!

Open to dancers ready to challenge themselves, grow their skills, and share the joy of Blues with an enthusiastic crowd.
